Team Up and JJ SAIL

Team Up

TEAM UP is a free, comprehensive, school-based afterschool program that provides educational and enrichment opportunities for youth. All TEAM UP programs are located at Duval County Public School sites and staffed by both certified teachers and youth development staff from the provider agency. Children who participate in TEAM UP programs tend to have better attendance, promotion rates and grades at the same schools as children who do not attend the program.

Dates:

RUFUS PAYNE – August 28, 2017 – May 18, 2018

Jax Journey Sail

Jax Journey SAIL (JJ SAIL) is a new Pilot program in which the YMCA is 1 of only 4 providers in Jacksonville to receive this grant. With its robust and structured academic and enrichment framework, it is different from traditional afterschool programming in that it runs the entire length of the school year. Staffed by both certified teachers and youth development staff from the provider agency. JJ SAIL also features certified teachers as tutors to help students in a smaller group setting. The goal of this program is to strengthen student literacy skills through hands on and engaging components such as Radical Readers and Imagination Zones. Students participating in JJ SAIL tend to have better attendance, promotion rates and grades at the same schools as children who do not attend the program. This program is at no cost to parents; however, students must be enrolled at the school in order to participate. This program also features a 7-week summer component.
