Healthy Living Challenge

This challenge is available to all registered participants. While we’re having a great time participating in the Games, we also want to make sure that we’re examining our overall health and well-being. This is where the Healthy Living Challenge comes in. While bowling and playing basketball is fun, so is living a long and healthy life! Points will be awarded for company participation in health assessments, questionnaires, various workouts and activities at First Coast YMCA branches.

Scoring Points

Points for the Pre & Post Screening, Pre & Post Behavior Change Questionnaire, and the Bonus Point Card are based on employee participation with a maximum total of 75 possible points. Each will follow the breakdown below. Also, additional points and freebies will be awarded for the Virtual Healthy Living Challenge portion in June and July.

<19.9% = 5 pts
20-39.9% = 10 pts
40-59.9% = 15 pts
60-79.9% = 20 pts
80-100% = 25 pts
Max PossiblePts = 25 x 3 = 75

Pre & Post Screening

We’re starting and ending the First Coast Games with health screenings so that you’ll have data to support the positive changes made in your company’s health over the course of the Games. We’re measuring the following five health components:

  • Change in % body weight
  • Change in % body fat
  • Change in waist circumference

Be sure to check with your Team Captain about your company’s pre/post-screenings appointment. Screening Locations will be at select Y’s during morning/mid-day/evening times, May 18-29 and again July 27-31.

Pre & Post Behavior Change Questionnaire

The pre and post survey will look at various changes in attitude/behaviors to health/wellness. The collected data will look at company improvement over the course of the Healthy Living Challenge, and also the overall experience of the First Coast Games.

Surveys will be sent out between May 18-May 29 and July 27-31 with a unique link to every registered Healthy Living Challenge Participant.

Bonus Point Card

This year, you can also earn bonus points toward the Healthy Living Challenge by completing 7 out of 9 of the activities featured on our Extra Credit cards. This is a great way to find something new to try and connect with others at the Y. As you complete the activities, make sure that they’re initialed and dated by YMCA staff. Completed bonus point cards must be brought to the post-screening to be redeemed for points to count toward Team Totals.

June Facebook Friday Challenge

  • Post a selfie on the First Coast Games Facebook Group every Friday in June
  • Selfie must contain you doing some outdoor physical activity/exercise
  • Each week the selfie with the most likes will be entered for a FREE One-Month FFC Adult Membership
  • Winner announced Tuesday, June 30 on FCG FB Page

July #My30 Activity Challenge

  • Post how you got your #My30 each time you workout
  • Most active company posting their #My30 will receive 10 bonus points for the Healthy Living Challenge

Get Connected Through Group Exercise

At the Y, we know that support, engagement and accountability are vital in helping you meet and exceed your goals. Group Exercise is a great way to get engaged quickly with your colleagues and other Y members. For the Healthy Living Challenge, we’ve highlighted several of our classes, broken down into three levels, with Level I being the easiest of the bunch and Level II the most challenging:

Level III

  • Body Attack
  • Body Combat
  • Body Pump
  • Fitness Yoga

These classes are a great way to progress during the course of the games into more challenging classes. It gives you an outline or roadmap to plan your course of action on various classes to try out. These classes can be found at almost every one of our branches. You should be able to find one that works with your schedule.
