Strategic Plan

Advancing Our Cause

In 2013, the First Coast Y first went through a Strategic Planning Process and created Advancing Our Cause Strategic Plan: Vision 2025, Phase 1, which was developed to last for three years (2014, 2015, 2016). The plan has largely focused on using the values of the Y (Care, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility) in order to have a positive impact on the areas of Youth development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility, while also giving thought to strengthening our own Internal Capacity as an organization.

Now that the three years are drawing to a close, this is a great time to look at what we have achieved and what areas need more attention so that we know how to move forward as an organization.

In order to establish the strategic plan for 2017 and beyond, a Corporate Strategic Planning Committee has been assembled to renew and refresh the Strategic Plan. Strategies for a new plan include youth development initiatives such as helping our schools prepare today’s youth for tomorrow’s success through STEM, leading in the delivery of family and youth wellness programs, and uplifting teens (especially those in the urban core). Healthy Living and Social Responsibility initiatives such as expanding and growing out Y as a total wellness resource and emerging as one of the most military-family-friendly Ys in the US are also included in new strategy planning. With these also come goals to increase internal capacity by developing new membership models and increasing out “Mission Awareness” in the community.

Over the course of four months (during four meetings between August and November 2016), the committee will assess and evaluate each of the proposed strategies and make edits as they see necessary. The proposed strategic plan – with committee edits – will go before the Metro Board at the beginning of 2017 for approval. Once we have the next step in place, our Y can continue focusing on advancing our cause, and we can work towards having the maximum positive impact possible on our community.
